How to activate the Virtual Agent

Steps to activate the Virtual Agent across request channels

  1. Make sure your relevant Knowledge Sources are added and indexed in the ClearFeed web app.

  2. Navigate to Collections, and open Settings for the required Collection.

  3. Scroll down to the Virtual Agent section, and enable it by toggling the respective switch.

  4. Toggle on Generated answer: Virtual Agent will respond with relevant snippets from your indexed Knowledge Sources, and further share a GPT-generated answer.

  5. Configure the Virtual Agent Response Mode: Choose 'AI-Generated Answers' for GPT-powered responses, 'Search Results' for direct outputs from your knowledge source, or select both to enhance the response capability of your virtual agent.

  6. Choose the number of search results: Control how many search results are displayed when the Virtual Agent responds to requests.

  7. Link this Collection with the required Knowledge Sources by choosing the appropriate tags. At least one Knowledge Source must be associated with generating answers.

  8. Trigger mode:

    1. Manual: Respond with a generated answer only when an emoji (🔍) is applied to the thread. (Note: Manual mode does not work with automatic ticketing).

    2. Automatic: Generate an answer for all requests on a thread.

  9. Finalize and save your settings to activate Virtual Agent across all request channels in this Collection.

Steps to deactivate the Virtual Agent

  1. Navigate to Collections, and open the Settings for the desired Collection.

  2. Scroll down to the Virtual Agent section, and disable it by toggling the respective switch.
