# Signing up for ClearFeed

Welcome to ClearFeed! This guide walks you through account creation and the onboarding flow. Your choices during setup will determine which getting-started guide you should follow next.

## Step 1. SignUp for ClearFeed

1. Go to <https://web.clearfeed.app/>
2. Sign up using **Google, Microsoft, or Email**

* **Note**: Use an email that is member of the Slack workspace you will be connecting to

3. A ClearFeed account is auto-created for your domain (e.g., `mycompany.com`)

## Step 2. Answer some Onboarding Questions

You’ll answer a series of questions to configure your setup. Your answers determine how ClearFeed works for your team:

### What is your Primary Use Case

Choose what you’re using ClearFeed for:

* **Supporting Internal Teams** - Manage employee requests (IT helpdesk, HR, Finance, Legal, etc.)
* **Supporting Customers** - Manage external customer requests from Slack channels, Microsoft Teams channels, Discord forums, Telegram groups, Email, Web Chat, and other channels.

### How you plan to use ClearFeed

Based on your use case, choose your ticketing approach:

**For Internal Support:**

* **Create & Manage Tickets in ClearFeed** - ClearFeed is your ticketing platform with SLAs, automations, and full features
* **Create Tickets in External System** - Sync Slack with your existing ticketing system (Zendesk, Jira, Freshdesk, HubSpot, etc.)

**For Customer Support:**

* **Create & Manage Tickets in ClearFeed** - ClearFeed is your ticketing platform

## Step 3. Connect to Slack

After the setup questions, you’ll authorize ClearFeed in Slack:

1. Click **"Authorize Slack"** to install ClearFeed in your Slack workspace
2. You’ll be asked to approve permissions for ClearFeed to:
   * Access channels and conversations

## Step 4. (Optional) Connect Your External Ticketing System

**If you chose "Create Tickets in External System":**

After Slack is authorized, depending on your earlier choices, you maybe prompted to connect your ticketing system:

1. Select your integration (Zendesk, Jira, Freshdesk, HubSpot, etc.)
2. Click **Connect** and follow the integration’s authorization flow
3. Or click **Skip** — you can connect this later from **Settings > Integrations**

**If you chose "Create & Manage Tickets in ClearFeed":**

This step is skipped. ClearFeed is ready to use.

## Step 5. Invite Your Team

Add email addresses of team members who will have access to ClearFeed. You can also skip this and invite people later from **Settings > Users**.

## Step 6. Next Steps after Signing Up

ClearFeed automatically configures:

* Request channel(s) where employees/customers create tickets
* Collections to organize your sources
* Default AI Agent for suggested answers
* Test messages to demonstrate the workflow

## Troubleshooting Signup

### I Can't Login

If you're unable to log in with your organization email, it could be due to a number of reasons - like the signup email missing from Slack, or that there's already another account from the same domain and you are not allowed to join it.

For comprehensive troubleshooting of login issues, see [Troubleshooting Login-Failed Errors](/clearfeed-help-center/account-setup/login-methods.md#troubleshooting-login-failed-errors).

## FAQs

1. **What if ClearFeed is uninstalled from Slack?**\
   If ClearFeed is uninstalled from your Slack workspace, all ClearFeed integrations stop working (request channels, etc.). Common reasons include downgrading to Slack's free tier. To restore:

   * Go to the ClearFeed Web App
   * Click **Settings > Integrations**
   * Click **Connect/Reconnect** next to Slack
   * Re-authorize ClearFeed in Slack
   * Re-invite ClearFeed to your channels using `/invite @ClearFeed`

   See [Slack FAQ](/clearfeed-help-center/getting-started/security.md#installing-clearfeed-on-slack) for more details.
2. **Can I switch to a different Slack Workspace?**\
   Currently you cannot reconnect an existing ClearFeed account to a different Slack workspace. Options:
   * [Delete your account](/clearfeed-help-center/account-setup/delete-account.md) and create a new one (easiest)
   * Create a [Child Account](/clearfeed-help-center/account-setup/child-accounts.md) connected to your other Slack workspace
3. **What's the difference between a parent and child account?**\
   A parent account is your primary ClearFeed account. [Child accounts](/clearfeed-help-center/account-setup/child-accounts.md) allow you to manage multiple Slack workspaces, teams, or configurations under one billing umbrella. Child accounts can share integrations with the parent.
